What’s the Score?

In a strategic move to digitize the recreational pickleball experience, CourtsApp—an AI-powered booking and marketing platform—has partnered with DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating). Announced in December 2025, this collaboration aims to integrate DUPR’s global rating system directly into CourtsApp’s reservation engine, allowing matches played at partner facilities to automatically count toward a player’s verified rating.

Hit it deeper!

The partnership addresses a common friction point in the sport: the disconnect between playing a match and having that effort reflected in a player’s official skill rating. CourtsApp, which is currently expanding from the US Northeast to Florida and beyond, focuses on modernizing how clubs manage reservations. By embedding DUPR, the platform creates a “closed loop” where players can find a court, book it, play, and record the result all within one ecosystem.

For the estimated 1.5 million players with DUPR accounts, the integration offers significant convenience. Users will be able to connect their accounts to CourtsApp, book courts based on real-time availability, and generate verified rating histories automatically. For facility operators, the benefits are equally compelling. The partnership allows clubs to tap into DUPR’s massive user base to drive utilization and revenue. Facilities can host DUPR-eligible open plays and matches, using the allure of “verified play” to attract serious recreational players who are keen on improving their rating.

CourtsApp CEO Daren Hornig described the alliance as a way to make progress “visible right where the game happens.” With integration work already underway, the new functionality is expected to launch in an upcoming product release. The platform currently supports over 150 facilities and 1,500 courts, with aggressive expansion plans for Texas, Southern California, and the Pacific Northwest throughout 2026.

The World Pickleball Verdict

Data is the new currency of recreational sports, and this partnership proves that pickleball is rapidly modernizing its infrastructure. By marrying the logistics of “where to play” (CourtsApp) with the motivation of “how good am I?” (DUPR), these companies are building a sticky ecosystem that benefits everyone. For the sport to sustain its massive growth, it needs this kind of digital backbone—systems that professionalize the hobbyist experience and provide clubs with the tools to manage high demand efficiently. This is a clear win for the “gamification” of real-world sports.
